Federal immigration enforcement moved through western Kansas and detained several people. It comes after President Donald Trump promised deportations of people in the country without legal status. Southwest Kansas has a high percentage of immigrants.

Thousands of schools, farmers and food pantries in the Midwest and Great Plains planned on federal dollars over the next year to support local food purchases. And then the U.S. Department of Agriculture cut the programs. -
With cuts at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Texas and other states will have to spend more on public health. The biggest expense of a measles outbreak is the public health response in shutting down the outbreak. -
Democratic Gov. Laura Kelly vetoed Senate Bill 29, but the veto was overridden by the Republican-dominated House and Senate. It opens health officials to lawsuits over quarantine decisions and removed their authority to ban public gatherings. -
Oklahoma is reporting one new confirmed measles case and another probable case. -
The federal government will begin collecting detailed information about who's making cash transactions of $200 to $10,000 at money exchange businesses in several South Texas counties. The effort is part of the Trump administration's plan to go after drug cartels and other criminal groups.
