US and Russian warplanes came face to face in the sky on Thursday after Vladimir Putin sent up two Tu-95MS nuclear bombers over the Bering Sea, near Alaska's western coast. The Russian defense minister admitted its hulking 'Bear' strategic bombers 'appeared near the coast of Alaska' on an 11 hour flight over the neutral waters Bering Sea. Moscow said 'at certain stages the missile carriers were accompanied by fighter jets of foreign countries'. Four Kremlin military jets were detected and tracked operating near American airspace in an area where Russian aircraft activity is regularly detected, NORAD confirmed. The US authority added that the Russian jets 'remained in international airspace'.

A Kentucky woman thought she was going to the doctor for a cold but was diagnosed with an infection that put her in the hospital for 16 months and claimed her life. Teacher Emily Presley, 46, went to the doctor in May of 2022 with cold-like symptoms . Her husband said before that she was a 'picture of health' who rarely got sick. She ended up in the hospital after developing a severe infection. She spent four months on an advanced ventilator that did the work of her heart and lungs. Sadly, while Emily fought, her body could not and she died this week.

McMaster advised the White House to increase defense spending to 4 percent of GDP - twice as much currently required of NATO nations. The money should be spent on high-tech missile systems such as Israel's Iron Dome, according to the geopolitical expert. 'We could be on the cusp of another World War,' he told British broadcaster LBC Radio's Andrew Marr. 'I know that sounds dramatic, but I think we have to take it seriously so we can prevent that from happening.'

James McNeal, 58, slashed his wrists and had his lawyer call police to arrest him about 24 hours after his girlfriend Liliya Guyvoronsky, 20, was killed in her South Seattle bedroom. When police entered the house they found Guyvoronsky naked on her bed, lying on her back with the bedding covering her, according to the arrest report. The young woman said in sent to friends said McNeal was controlling, got angry when she said no to him, and once told her would 'sex traffic' her.

An enormous dead alligator distracted a driver in Louisiana and caused a car crash on Paris Road around 6.30am Monday. One car swerved off the road into a nearby bayou. Those involved in the crash were not seriously injured, witness Kayden Koffler said. Koffler, who wasn't present at the time of the crash, told NOLA.com the alligator was dead when he showed up for work at Gulf South Automotive, near the crash scene, that morning. A picture showed the large gator laid out on the median, as it looked toward the road.

About 20 migrants sprinted off a boat after it docked at a marina on the tip of the Balboa Peninsula in Newport Beach, California, in the latest brazen attempt to circumvent border security. They climbed over fences and ran across the jetty towards the street, leaving the empty boat floating behind. Footage of the incident has gone viral online. Taking a boat around the border in California is an increasingly popular tactic for migrants who want to sneak in illegally, rather than claim asylum. The tactic comes as President Joe Biden 's policies have allowed a flood of migrants to enter the US during his tenure.
