Norwood: Second Ceiling Collapse reported on Dekalb Avenue

For the second time in two months, firefighters were called to a second Dekalb Avenue building in Norwood for a report of a ceiling collapse. In the latest incident, Jumratan Inshanali, a 33-year resident of 3561 Dekalb Avenue, said she was sitting in her bedroom with her home health aide on Monday, March 10, when water started to pour out of her ceiling and into her first-floor apartment.

UPDATE Norwood: Man Arrested for Stabbing on E 208th Street

The NYPD said they have arrested a man following an assault on a second man in Norwood earlier this month. Police had been asking for the public’s help identifying and locating the person seen in the attached video and photos in connection with the incident.  

Kingsbridge Heights: Man Assaulted Aboard Northbound D Train

A man was assaulted aboard a D train as it approached Kingsbridge Road subway station on Monday night, March 17, according to the NYPD. They said the incident took place at around 9.25 p.m. when a 35-year-old man was aboard a northbound “D” train in the vicinity of Grand Concourse and East Kingsbridge Road. “An individual punched him in the face, causing bruising and pain after a verbal dispute,” they said.  “The victim refused medical attention.”

Bronx Parks Speak-Up Held at Lehman College

The 31st Bronx Parks Speak-Up event took place at Lehman College in Bedford Park on Saturday Feb. 22. Funded by the Bronx Council for Environmental Quality (BCEQ) through a Con Edison environmental stewardship grant and held in conjunction with the Bronx Coalition of Parks and Green Spaces (BCPGS), the annual event draws various Bronx environmental organizations, parks groups, and residents together to discuss and learn how to preserve and make the most of the borough’s natural environment.
