Hicken confirmed as Police Commissioner

-four Deputies and SOCU head also sworn in President Irfaan Ali yesterday confirmed Clifton Hicken as substantive Commissioner of Police along with four Deputy Commissioners during a ceremony at the Office of the President.  Hicken, who had been acting as Commissioner since 2022, is the first person who has surpassed the official retirement age of 55 to be confirmed in the position.

Region One to benefit from 84 new healthcare professionals

Region One’s healthcare workforce has been significantly strengthened with the addition of 84 individuals who are now certified nursing assistants, community health workers (CHWs) and operating room technicians.

Trinidad gov’t to withdraw pension bill, AG says controversial $25,000 savings cap was an error

(Trinidad Guardian) Less than a day after Social Development Minister Donna Cox defended proposed legislation that would impact the elderly’s access to the Senior Citizens’ Pension Grant, Attorney General Reginald Armour is now saying the controversial amendment that would have seen people with savings of over $25,000 become ineligible for old-age pension, was included in error.
