A coalition of 28 Washington state lawmakers have condemned the Legislature's failure to advance a key juvenile justice reform measure, calling it a moral and political failure that leaves vulnerable youth trapped in an inhumane system.

Democratic lawmakers are demanding answers from Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick after reports emerged that the Trump administration has effectively shuttered the Minority Business Development Agency, potentially in violation of federal law.

The Trump administration has granted nearly 70 coal-fired power plants a two-year exemption from the Mercury and Air Toxics Standards, allowing them to emit increased levels of hazardous pollutants such as mercury, arsenic, and lead. These toxins are known to cause developmental disorders, heart attacks, and asthma attacks.
