Bebe Moore Campbell (born Feb. 18, 1950, Philadelphia, Pa., U.S.—died Nov. 27, 2006, Los Angeles, Calif.) American novelist and essayist who examined race relations and mental illness in her work. In 1972 Campbell received a degree (B.S.) in elementary education from the University of Pittsburgh. She taught in Atlanta for five years and worked as a freelance journalist. Her debut novel, Your Blues Ain’t Like Mine, was published in 1992.
