John H. Woodson Dismissing Students at 11 a.m. Due to Gaseous Odors

Due to intermittent sewage and gaseous odors impacting school operations, the John H. Woodson Junior High School on St. Croix will be dismissed at 11 a.m. on Friday, the V.I. Education Department announced. This decision has been made to ensure the safety and comfort of everyone on campus, it said.

In light of this early dismissal, lunch will be provided for students before departing, the department said. Additionally, transportation services will be available for students who utilize bus services to ensure they reach their destinations safely, it said. Parents are asked to pick up students who do not use bus services.

“We recognize the inconvenience this situation may bring about and sincerely appreciate the understanding and cooperation of parents, guardians, and the entire school community. Our maintenance personnel are diligently collaborating with vendors and relevant entities to resolve this matter promptly and effectively,” the department said in a press release announcing the early dismissal.

Updates will be provided as they become available, it said.
