The US is changing and not for the better

Dear Editor,

I travel to the U.S. twice a year for medical checkups. Until recently, I was always treated with courtesy by immigration officers. They’d thank me for my military service. That recognition meant something. Last month, I entered the country and didn’t receive that same respect. No acknowledgment, no thanks—just indifference. As a combat veteran, I used to be treated with dignity. Now, that seems to be fading. It’s disappointing, and frankly, disheartening. I’m now reconsidering how often I return.

Sincerely,

Anthony Pantlitz
