The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has called for investigation into the deaths of two students of Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK) over palliative distribution.

NANS President, Lucky Emonefe, in a statement called for thorough probe to determine the remote and immediate causes of the incident.

Emonefe also tasked the university management to provide support and counselling to the injured.

“On behalf of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), we offer our heartfelt condolences to the university management, families, and friends of the deceased,” Emonefe said.

“It is imperative that an investigation be conducted into the incident and those responsible for the mishandling of the distribution of palliatives be held accountable.

“We urge governments and individuals involved in distributing relief materials to adopt modern distribution methods to prevent any loss of life. The safety and well-being of Students and citizens should always be prioritized.

“We also call on the university management to provide support and counseling services to the affected Students. It is essential that they receive the necessary care and assistance during this challenging time.

“Let us learn from this tragic event and take the necessary steps to prevent similar incidents in the future.”
