Steve Harvey Shocks Houston Baker On ‘STEVE On Watch’ With A Holiday Surprise
What is Thanksgiving without some sweet treats? The latest guest on Steve Harvey’s Steve on Watch, has the perfect dessert for anyone’s sweet tooth!
Brotha Bakes is delivering delicious cakes in a jar inspired by some of Black culture’s most famous celebrities. Owner and baker, Mark Linen, took a leap of faith one day when he decided to pivot his career from driving trucks to following his passion for baking, which started in his parents’ kitchen. He was sitting in the barbershop in 2019 when he overhead a video message from Steve Harvey saying, “if the alarm clock goes off in the morning and you aren’t excited about it, then you aren’t living in your passion.” It was enough for Linen to start thinking about what really got him excited each day. It was then that Brotha Bakes was born.
After hearing Linen’s story, Steve Harvey decided that he would invest in the Houston-based business and welcomed Linen to his show. What makes Linen’s cakes so unique isn’t just the flavor profiles, but it’s the fact that each cake on his menu are named after different celebrities in one way or another. From the Reddie Murphy (a Red Velvet cake with cream cheese icing) to the Banana Ross (a banana cake with vanilla pudding frosting topped with fresh bananas) and the German Dupri (a classic German chocolate cake with chocolate icing and German chocolate coconut frosting).
Taking part in the season of giving, Steve Harvey gifted Mark Linen with a special surprise to help him and his family continue to grow their business and further develop their generational wealth.
