With area districts planning to have students continue to stay home for the upcoming school year, parents are looking for ways to improve their children’s distance learning experience.

Local educator Twa’Lea A. Jordan continues her Get Ready! Workshop series, designed to help parents prepare. The online workshops continue July 30 and August 1.

Jordan is a credentialed teacher and a homeschooling mother of three. She holds a Master’s in Education and is involved in the homeschooling community. Jordan is also the founder of Unconventional Concepts, an educational center on Power Inn Road, where she teaches homeschool students and offers a number of learning experiences for other children.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, everyone has been thrust into a homeschooling reality. With the Get Ready! Workshops, Jordan offers helpful tools that will help ease parents and caregivers’ path to schooling at home. Topics will include curriculum and resources, pacing plans,learning environments, maintaining focus, time management; managing expectations, and more.
