Breonna Taylor memorial will be moved to local African American museum
As the weather begins to cool down, local protest leaders have found a new home for the Breonna Taylor memorial that sits in the middle of Jefferson Square Park.
The large memorial, which has served as a safe haven for protesters, consists of art work, balloons, flowers and more.
In honor of Breonna, as well as an attempt to salvage the memorial through winter, Roots 101 will serve as a permanent home for the memorial.
Roots 101 is a local museum dedicated to tell the story of the African-American journey from Africa and all ports in between, according to the museum's website.
"We will have a symbolic march from this park where we will take pieces of this memorial all of us and march to Roots 101 where we will have it rebuilt there and that will be the permanent home. Breonna will be able to rest with its ancestors, with her ancestors, with our ancestors," local protest leader Shameka Parrish Wright said.
A date has not been set for when the memorial will be moved, but protester's say it will be announced soon.
