Mining companies prove stand-offish as Cairo pursues gold mining promotion drive
Cairo is trying to attract more international operators into gold mining and has issued a new call for applications for mining rights. The call could fall short of its objectives, however. Following the reform of Egypt's mining legislation and concession award procedures in 2020, operators are not yet ready to start prospecting.
