Thursday's weather: Isolated showers expected on an otherwise cool to warm day

A cool to warm first Thursday of December is expected across the country with isolated thundershowers also predicted across most of the country by the South African Weather Service

Impact based warning

Yellow level 2 warning for wind resulting in difficulty in navigation at sea is expected between Lambert's Bay and Betty's Bay in the Western Cape.

Fire danger warning 

Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over the central and eastern parts of the Northern Cape, the Cape Metropole and West Coast District of the Western Cape, the extreme western parts of the North West and the western parts of the Free State.

The weather in your province

Gauteng will be cloudy and cool, becoming partly cloudy from the afternoon with isolated evening thundershowers in the extreme south.

The expected UVB sunburn index is moderate.

In Mpumalanga, it will be cloudy in the morning with fog and drizzle along the escarpment, otherwise partly cloudy and cool with isolated showers and thundershowers along the escarpment and extreme south.

Limpopo will be cloudy and cool to warm with morning drizzle and fog along the escarpment.

Conditions in the North West will be cloudy in the east in the morning, otherwise partly cloudy and warm with isolated thundershowers in the central parts. 

The Free State will be cloudy in the east in the morning where it will become partly cloudy with isolated thundershowers from the afternoon, otherwise fine and warm to hot. 

The Northern Cape will be fine and warm to hot, but cool along the coast and the southern high ground. It will be very hot in the north. 

The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong southerly to south-easterly.

Conditions in the Western Cape will be cloudy and cool along the south coast in the morning and evening, otherwise fine and warm to hot.

The wind along the coast will be moderate southerly to south-easterly along the south coast, otherwise strong to near gale southerly to south-easterly.

The expected UVB sunburn index is extreme.

In the western half of the Eastern Cape, it will be partly cloudy and warm, but cool along the coast.

The wind along the coast will be moderate south-westerly.

The eastern half of the Eastern Cape will be cloudy in places south of the escarpment, otherwise partly cloudy and cool with isolated showers and thundershowers, but scattered in the north-east.

The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh south-westerly.

KwaZulu-Natal will be partly cloudy and cool, but warm in the north. It will become cloudy in the afternoon with scattered showers and thundershowers, but isolated in the north-east.

The wind along the coast will be moderate easterly to north-easterly towards midday.

The expected UVB sunburn index is moderate.
