- An Eastern Cape government communications and customer care director has died.
- He was described by Premier Oscar Mabuyane as someone who went the extra mile in serving the people.
- His funeral details are yet to be announced.
The Eastern Cape government is mourning the death of its education department's communications and customer care director Loyiso Phulumani.
Premier Oscar Mabuyane sent his heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Phulumani.
"[I am] still shocked and saddened by Mr Phulumani’s death and [I] wish his family, especially his wife, children, siblings, entire family, friends and colleagues fortitude and strength during this painful time," he said on Sunday.

Mabuyane added Phulumani was a talented and committed public servant "who always went an extra mile in serving the people of our province with humility, care and compassion".
Education MEC Fundile Gade said Phulumani died "after a short sickness which led to him being admitted at the St Dominics Hospital, yesterday [Saturday]".
"We sends our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the late Phulumani. Since this incident happened today [Sunday], funeral arrangements and other related logistics will be communicated in due course."
