Covid-19: South Africa records 205 new infections and 13 deaths

South Africa recorded 205 new confirmed Covid-19 infections on Sunday and 13 deaths, bringing the confirmed death toll to 89 332.

According to the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD), as of Sunday, the country recorded 2 923 956 laboratory-confirmed cases.

 

According to the Department of Health, 23 151 823 vaccine doses have been administered. Of those, 10 930 were administered in the last 24-hour reporting cycle.

To date, 15 568 945 people – 39% of the adult population – have received at least one vaccine dose. Of those, 12 855 658 are fully vaccinated adults. Since 20 October, 210 149 children have been vaccinated.

KwaZulu-Natal recorded 53 new cases on Sunday, Gauteng 40, the Western Cape 35, Northern Cape 26, Free State 18, Eastern Cape 14, North West 13 and Mpumalanga six.

There are 16 521 active cases, and the country has a positivity rate of 0.8%.

South Africa has conducted 18 724 313 cumulative tests, of which 24 629 were carried out in the last 24-hour cycle.

The recovery rate is 96.4%, which translates to 2 818 103 recoveries.
