(Trinidad Express) The murder toll for 2020 has hit the 300 mark.
The latest victim is Air Guard corporal Sowande Osei Morean, 33, of Saddle Road, Maraval.
Morean was shot dead at Belmont shortly after midnight.
Police said Morean was at the home of a female friend at Pittman Lane, Gonzales, when around 12.10 a.m. gunfire erupted.
Morean and the woman were seated in the veranda when the killer/s approached and shot him.
The woman ran inside and was not harmed.
Morean was struck multiple times and was taken to the Port of Spain General Hospital.
He died while being treated.
The comparative number of murders for the same period last year was at 383.
Morean is the the cousin of Port of Spain Deputy Mayor Hillan Cadena Morean.
