Mamelodi Sundowns and Bafana Bafana forward Gift Motupa was involved in a frightening car accident on Thursday afternoon.

Motupa joined Sundowns on a five-year contract from the now defunct Bidvest Wits in the off-season, but has yet to feature for the defending PSL champions due to injury.

LUCKY ESCAPE WITH ONLY MINOR INJURIES

That debut may well now be delayed further after he escaped with minor injuries when his car veered off the road.

It is believed the South Africa international lost control of his day-old white Golf 7 GTi and rolled off the R37 as he was en route home to Polokwane, and received medical attention on the scene.

The 26-year-old was understood to have been travelling with his uncle, who also escaped with minor injurries.

Motupa played for Baroka FC, Orlando Pirates and most recently Wits between 2018-2020.

Motupa has 12 Bafana Bafana caps to his name.
