Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg will lie in state Friday at the U.S. Capitol, becoming the first woman in history to do so.
Ginsburg’s body will be placed in the National Statuary Hall, where a formal ceremony will be held for invited guests only, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced Monday.
On Wednesday, a separate service will be held at the Supreme Court with family, close friends and members of the high court.
Afterward, the public will have the chance to pay their respects when Ginsburg’s body will lie outside, on the portico of the court from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday, and from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday.
Ginsburg, 87, known as a fighter for women’s rights, died Friday of pancreatic cancer.
