Johannesburg emergency medical services (EMS) says seven more bodies have been retrieved from the Jukskei River.
This brings to nine the number of bodies retrieved from the river after they were swept away during a church baptism on Saturday evening.
EMS spokesperson Robert Mulaudzi on Sunday said: "So far, seven bodies have been retrieved. This, plus the two bodies that were retrieved on Saturday."

One person was rescued and taken to a nearby healthcare facility.

Mulaudzi said the search was going well.
"The conditions at the river are good. Because it has not rained, the river is not too full and the current is not too strong. Rescuers are able to conduct their work with no problems."
