The Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) yesterday arrested a New York-bound, Suriname-based Guyanese woman over cocaine.

CANU in a release today said that the drug was found concealed in cavities in a book, make-up and personal items in the luggage of Tommy Ann Bunbury.

CANU says 1.948 kilogrammes of cocaine was retrieved.

She allegedly has been living in Suriname for the past six years and periodically returns to Guyana to fulfil immigration obligations, CANU said.

She had been booked to travel on an Eastern Airlines flight to New York from the Cheddi Jagan International Airport, Timehri.
