‘Wilmot’s Warehouse’

Wilmot’s Warehouse is a co-op Indie puzzle game developed by Hollow Ponds and Richard Hogg, and published by Finji back in August 2019. The aim is to keep Wilmot’s warehouse running in “tip-top shape”.

Wilmot’s Warehouse is a puzzle game about keeping a warehouse running in tip-top shape. Just remember where you put everything because when the service hatch opens, you’ll need to find the things people want quickly, to earn the coveted Performance Stars.

Jeff Ramos from Polygon says “bringing order to randomness can be incredibly calming” and adds that Wilmot’s Warehouse is a “charming game” and his “new go-to destination for instant peace”. Get it here.

I don’t always have the opportunity to make everything perfect in real life, but in each round of this adorably designed warehouse management sim, I get to be the master among the madness.

‘3 out of 10, EP 1: Welcome To Shovelworks’

3 Out of 10 is a hilarious exploration comedy set in the “world’s worst game dev studio” and centred around the developers’ ongoing adventures. The unique game was developed and published by Terrible Posture Games Inc.

In Episode 1: Welcome to Shovelworks, Midge joins the fictional team as a new animator, “but not all is as it seems at the studio”. The question we need to ask ourselves here is if Shovelworks Studio will ever make a game that scores better than 3 out of 10. (Get it?)

Welcome to the world’s worst game dev studio. Part animated show, part game, 3 out of 10 is the world’s first playable sitcom. We’re 99% sure that’s true. You can tell us if we’re wrong.

Jessica Conditt from Engadget says 3 Out Of 10 is “like The Office, but with more tentacle monsters in the backroom”. She describes the exaggerated parody of a shallow, corporate game studio as being “soaked in satire” with an authentic feel.

‘3 out of 10’ is soaked in satire, with exaggerated characters and absurdist scenes that riff on video game players, developers and investors. It sounds like a potentially cringey combination, but ‘3 out of 10’ is often laugh-out-loud funny. It feels authentic.

’20XX’

20XX is a roguelike action platformer developed and published by Batterystaple back in November 2014. The object of the game is to play with a friend. Yep, that’s right…

If you like roguelikes then this is for you, although personally, it would not be my first choice when looking for something to play. That said, this is purely a personal preference and doesn’t reflect on the game itself.

‘Superbrothers: Sword and Sorcery’

Superbrothers: Sword and Sorcery — which features songs and sounds by the award-winning Jim Guthrie — was developed and published by Capybara Games back in April 2012.

The landmark action-adventure crafted by Superbrothers and the video game wizards at CAPY. Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to help a wandering warrior monk complete her woeful errand.
