The United States on Monday hit the grim milestone of six million confirmed coronavirus cases since the start of the global pandemic earlier this year.

The country has 6,006,327 cases as of Monday afternoon, including 183,221 deaths, according to a Johns Hopkins University tracker.

As the number of cases trend upward, Dr. Deborah Birx, the response coordinator for the White House Coronavirus Task Force, urges Americans “to do the right thing” by wearing face masks and practicing social distancing, CNN reported.
