Jovan Johnson, senior staff reporter at The Gleaner Company (Media) Ltd, once again copped the Press Association of Jamaica's Journalist of the Year Award for his outstanding investigative reporting on a number of issues of national importance over the past year.

The announcement was made last night at PAJ's annual National Journalism Awards at The Courtleigh Auditorium in New Kingston.

Johnson also won the award for Best Breaking News for his story about the Stocks & Securities Limited (SSL) complex fraud scandal; the Carl Wint Award for Best Print Human Interest Feature Story; the Award for Excellence in Reporting on Agriculture; and the Hector Bernard/Theodore Sealy Award for News in the print category.

“I'm thrilled. It's wonderful to be acknowledged by my peers, and congratulations to them as well. It's a motivation for more work and I'm committed to doing that,” said Johnson, who was previously named Journalist of the Year in 2021.

The judges noted that Johnson was selected because his “body of work is at an extremely high level of quality, impact and interest ... . His quality of reporting and research compare well with the best globally”.

The Gleaner's Sashana Small took home the UNICEF Award for Excellence in Reporting on Children's Rights.
