Kenya Set to Host Major Agricultural and Processing Expo

Nairobi — Nairobi is set to host the Agro-Food pack Exhibition, which seeks to boost local enterprises production capacity.

The three-day expo set for October 27-29 at Sarit Centre is co-organized by MXM Exhibitors-a Dubai based event firm and Kenya National Chambers of Commerce & Industry-Kajiado chapter.

"Our aim is to provide a platform for technology transfer, boosting inter-trade and enhancing the opening of the gateway between Kenya and other 20 countries from Europe and Asian nations," says Mudasir Mohammed, MXM, Expo organizer.

He added that the expo is indeed a boost to attracting foreign direct investments.

The expo targets both entrepreneurs in the Agricultural & and manufacturing sectors.

"Agricultural and Manufacturing are part of the Big Four Agenda Centre and we must connect local firms to new technology to drive growth within these two sectors, by doing so we shall be spurring their growth hence they can double their production capacity and create better jobs for Kenyans," adds Mohammed.

Japheth Ogutu, CEO of Kenya National Chambers of Commerce & Industry-Kajiado chapter opined that: "The new administration is on a mission to boost manufacturing sector and they are setting up industrial parks aimed at spurring job creation. The expo is an ideal platform for Kajiado county and particularly our members to showcase the opportunities available for investors and exhibitors attending the expo."

The AgroFoodpack Exhibition is covering segments Agro, Dairy and Poultry, Grains and Storage, Food and Flavors, Biscuits, Cakes, Packaging and processing Machines, Plastics etc.

Some of the major participants are Foshan Biology, SNK Benterkia, Asaal Shirin, Janst Healthcare, Prestige Packing Industry, Savinda Graphics & Package.

Mohammed has urged Kenyan exhibitors to ensure that they create long-lasting partnership with foreign counterparts.

"I believe that local exhibitors will end up signing MOUs that benefit both players, for instance, we can be their agents in our countries and they can be our local partners here in Kenya," he says.

The expo will create a pathway for technology innovators, producers, suppliers, and buyers to exploit up-and-coming opportunities in one of the world's most attractive business spots.

An estimated 1500 exhibitors from over six countries will participate in the event.

It will also shed light on new frontlines for world-shattering technologies, solutions and innovations.

The October expo is also expected to showcase transformations in the agriculture sector making it less dependent on manual processes, a change hoped to boost export volumes.

Japheth added that: "Today we are fast-growing economy in Sub Saharan Africa which with a huge industrial boom in several sectors especially within agricultural and manufacturing."

The exhibitors are drawn from Algeria, China, Egypt, Kenya, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Saudi Arabia, UAE.
