The National Cherry Blossom Festival Parade is back.
The annual event will return to Constitution Avenue on Saturday, April 9 from 10 a.m.-noon after the coronavirus pandemic forced its cancellation for the past two years.
Grandstand tickets for the general public can now be purchased.
“The festival has welcomed local residents and visitors from around the world each year to celebrate the cherry blossoms and festival experiences and the parade is one of the favorite traditions,” said Diana Mayhew, president and CEO of National Cherry Blossom Festival. “After nearly two years, the wait is almost over, and we are looking forward to inviting everyone back to rediscover the magic of spring and the rich culture of Washington, D.C. safely and in person.”
The parade’s entertainment will include Grammy-winning performers, 14 marching bands from across the country, the first-ever appearance of the U.S. Naval Academy Drum and Bugle Corps, and performances by D.C.-area artists, youth groups, choirs, costume characters and others, organizers said.
Greg O’Dell, president and CEO of Events DC, the parade’s presenter, said the event serves as “the grandest petal procession on Constitution Avenue.”
“The incredible scale of pageantry and community spirit is unique in Washington D.C. and we are thrilled to be a part of it,” he said.
