Phenom Amanda Gorman (pictured) catapulted herself to superstardom on Inauguration Day 2021 by becoming the youngest-ever inaugural poet in U.S. history to showcase her talent at the ceremony, which signals the dawn of a new American presidency.
Gorman, 22, was no stranger to noteworthy acclaim prior to solidifying her amazing achievement. The rhyming wordsmith was already an award-winning poet prior to her public performance before the nation during the historic Biden-Harris inaugural ceremony.
In 2014, Gorman became the first Youth Poet Laureate of Los Angeles, California. Three years later, she was named the nation’s first National Youth Poet Laureate. Democratic presidents have traditionally celebrated poets by having them read an original piece at inauguration ceremonies, the Los Angeles Times reports.
Gorman is also well-known by political insiders who represent the U.S. Democratic establishment. Dr. Jill Biden, the new FLOTUS, personally chose Gorman to make her history-making delivery on January 20. However, a week later, the rising star is making headlines yet again for another successful feat early in her already blossoming career.
Gorman is also personally known to former FLOTUS Hillary Rodham-Clinton.
TheGrio reported on Tuesday (January 26) that Gorman has officially signed on to the multi-faceted IMG Models agency as a brand ambassador who will also enjoy editorial perks. She has been very busy increasing her marketability online, via Instagram and Twitter, in particular.
The Hollywood Reporter stated in a report that Gorman has amassed millions of followers and has books on pre-order that have already sold out. Amazon says her upcoming books Change Sings: A Children’s Anthem and The Hill We Climb, have bolted to number 1 and 2 spots on the coveted Amazon books chart.
“I AM ON THE FLOOR MY BOOKS ARE #1 & #2 ON AMAZON AFTER 1 DAY!,” Thank you so much to everyone for supporting me and my words. As Yeats put it: ‘For words alone are certain good: Sing, then,” Gorman exclaimed on Twitter.
