Sign up: Appointments open at new mass vaccine site at Cardinal Stadium
A new mass vaccination site is opening in Louisville.
During a press conference Tuesday, health officials announced more about UofL Health opening Kentucky's largest regional vaccination site in the Cardinal Stadium parking lot. With the new site opening, LouVax's Broadbent Arena site will close.
LouVax will give its last initial shots on Friday, April 9. The site will stay open through the end of April to accommodate appointments. Officials say anyone who received their first shot at the arena will need to get their second there. The site will provide booster shots through April. 30.
As operations at the Broadbent Arena site take the backburner, the LouVax mobile program will hold more events. Officials say the program will travel to different parts of Louisville.
"Our mobile mission can be anything from 10 people to a thousand, but they're designed and tailored to specific groups including neighborhoods, demographics, various community organizations," said Dr. SarahBeth Hartlage.
On Wednesday, UofL Health will open admission for appointments at Cardinal Stadium. The site opens on April 12

According to officials, anyone 16 and older will be able to make an appointment.
As previously announced, Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear is opening up vaccine eligibility to teens in April. The site will have the Pfizer vaccine initially, then have the Johnson & Johnson single dose shot near the end of operations.
The site will administer 4,000 to 5,000 shots daily to Louisville and other Kentucky residents.
