CHIGWELL TOURS’ annual 10km fundraising walk will be taking place this Sunday (September 27) in support of black families and children who have lost their fathers.
The walk, which will take place at Hainault Forest, will “raise funds to support the children and families grieving the loss of their dads and father who died working to save the lives of Covid-19 patients within the NHS, TFL, security and delivery services.
Smile
“Our hope is to bring a little smile to the faces of children left behind after their fathers and dads have gone forever.”
When all families are under tremendous pressure, the absent black father leaves a gaping chasm.
The coronavirus pandemic has affected billions around the world, especially those working in public services and sectors. Hundreds of frontline NHS staff, TFL bus drivers and train drivers have lost their lives in “a bid to protect us and save lives.”
Statistics showed that the black community has suffered more from the virus and many more have died. Chigwell Tours have selected 10 fathers who cared for their families and loved their work to honour with this year’s fundraising efforts.
Registration
The fundraising walk will take place between 3-6pm. The registration fee is £5 and can be donated via their website or alternatively on their GoFundMe page below.
In a statement released online, the event organisers said: “At Chigwell Tours, we believe in families and we definitely believe in black fathers and dads.
“They are crucial to the lives of children and at this time, when all families are under tremendous pressure, the absent black father leaves a gaping chasm.
Funds
“Our campaign is to shine a small light on grieving black families, especially, the children living without their fathers at Christmas. We are walking to raise funds to make the festive time as near normal time as possible.”
“You can come on your own, bring your family, no group too small, no organisation too big. All are welcome.”
