A miner was on Monday stabbed to death after an altercation with the jilted lover of his girlfriend.

Dead is Teo Jamal James also known as ‘Max’, a 30 year-old miner of Lot 37 West La Penitence Housing Scheme, George-town, who was stabbed multiple times in a camp at Blackwater Crusher, Cuyuni River.

According to a police release, at about 7:40 pm on Monday, James was murdered by a man only known as ‘Tallman.’ James was subsequently taken to the Bartica Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Stabroek News contacted the sister of James, Simone Parker, who expressed her belief that it was because of a triangular love affair that her brother was involved in that caused him to meet his demise. “The girl said to the next [boy] that killed my brother that Max coming back and he can’t stay [there] and the boy turn and tell she ‘I gin show you that Max ain’t staying hay’,” Parker explained.

Parker detailed that when her brother arrived at the camp on Monday, he was attacked by the suspect and stabbed several times before the suspect made good his escape.

Regional Commander of Region 7 Senior Superintendent Linden Lord informed this newspaper that the suspect is still at large.
