Pennsylvania added 362 more COVID-19 infections Tuesday, pushing the state closer still to a new milestone: nearly 80,000 cases since Gov. Tom Wolf announced the first COVID-19 cases on March 6.

Pennsylvania’s Department of Health [DOH] also reported 33 new COVID-related fatalities. Tuesday’s cases bring the statewide tally to 79,483 cases and 6,276 deaths. Residents and employees of nursing and personal care homes continue to be hardest hit, representing roughly one in four infections statewide. Residents of the facilities account for nearly seven in 10 deaths. Healthcare workers comprise 7.5% of Pennsylvania’s COVID infections.

Allegheny County reported 27 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday and one death – the first since Thursday – bringing the countywide case tally to 2,113 and 174 deaths. To date, the county has reported 357 past and present hospitalizations.

The Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry has paid $16.4 billion in unemployment claims between March 15 and June 15. In that time, 1.9 million Pennsylvanians have filed for unemployment benefits.

Online gambling revenue more than doubled while in-person options were shuttered under stay-at-home orders, the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board announced Tuesday. Overall gaming revenue, though, was down 79% in May compared to the previous year. Tax revenue from all gaming last month totaled $25.7 million.
