The Ministry of Health reports that South Africa’s caseload increased with 11 014 new cases since Wednesday.

The latest COVID-19 figures have been released. Health Minister Zweli Mkhize confirmed on Thursday 30 July that SA’s cumulative caseload increased by 11 014 along with 193 deaths.
As of today, a total of 493 183 South Africans contracted COVID-19 since the virus first broke out in SA back in March. This is an increase of 11 014 since Thursday, 30 July. Thankfully, 326 171 patients have recovered.
As per Mkhize’s report, the recovery rate is now 66%. Sadly, Minister Mkhize also announced that a further 193 deaths were reported, This brings the death toll in South Africa to a total of 8005.
The deaths recorded per province during the last 24 hours are as follows: 8 from Eastern Cape, 103 from Gauteng, 36 from KwaZulu Natal, 33 from Western Cape and 13 from Mpumalanga.
As of today, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases is 493 183, the total number of deaths is 8 005 and the total number of recoveries is 326 171.

A total of 41 486 tests were conducted during the last 24 hours: 24 896 from the private sector and 16 590 from the public sector. In total, 2 959 535 tests have been conducted since the novel coronavirus first broke out.

In a new video shared by the World Health Organisation in Africa, wearing a loose mask would not help at all. Masks sufficiently cover the nose and mouth with as few gaps as possible.
The WHO also warns against taking the mask off to talk and sharing the mask with others. In addition, we are cautioned against repositioning or adjusting the mask once it has been put on.
There are 17 613 632 confirmed cases in the world, along with 679 48 deaths and 11 016 056 recoveries.
