Hanover man accused of abducting, robbing and raping woman charged

A Hanover man accused of abducting, robbing and raping a woman has been charged by the police.

Forty-one-year-old Anthony McNaughton of Chester Castle was on Tuesday charged with rape, forcible abduction, grievous sexual assault, robbery with aggravation and illegal possession of firearm.

The police report that about 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 01, McNaughton was driving a Nissan AD Wagon motorcar along the Reading main road in St James with a woman aboard.

On reaching a section of the roadway, he reportedly brandished a firearm and demanded the woman’s cellphone after which he allegedly forcefully had sexual intercourse with her, according to the police.

The matter was reported to the police and McNaughton was subsequently arrested and charged.

His court date is to be finalised.
