ORGANISERS of the inaugural Bulawayo hip-hop summit have said everything is set for tomorrow’s virtual event at the Art Gallery KoBulawayo at 11am.

The summit, organised by Kingcity Media, a grouping of rappers and producers from Bulawayo will run under the theme: “For The Culture.”

One of the event organisers, Mc Tytoh told NewsDay Life & Style that the summit was targetting rappers, producers, DJs, corporate world, budding artistes, video producers, and all those who love and appreciate hip-hop.

“We are ready for the summit, it has been a long time preparing for this event and we are happy with what we have amassed so far and the response from fans, rappers, and facilitators is stirring,” he said.

“We will adhere to all COVID-19 rules and regulations so that we don’t put the lives of people in danger. So, we will adhere to the stipulated numbers and for those who won’t be part of the audience we shall have the summit streamed live on our online platforms.”

MC Tytoh said the objective of the summit was to turn the music industry into a business entity.

“The summit is not just for Bulawayo, but for hip-hop artistes throughout the country.

“Our objective is to turn singing into business by making the artistes’ brands visible and artistes understand the modern dynamics of the music industry and how they can work around it to make a living off it,” he said.

“We are strongly held to the belief that hip-hop in Bulawayo is a culture with the potential to anchor the city’s creative economy as well as facilitate positive social change.

“However, all the positives can count for nothing if there is no strategy for growth.”

He said some of the facilitators at the summit would include Zim hip-hop awards chief executive officer Beefy Harrison, ZiFM Stereo radio personality and hip-hop DJ Lady K, arts promoter and critic Plot Mhako, journalists Bongani Ndlovu and NewsDay correspondent Sindiso Dube, public relations consultant Michelle, Prozac, Brian Willis and Emmity Smooth, among others.
