Will Smith and Kevin Hart will star in the new movie, Planes, Trains & Automobiles. Their film will be a remake of the Paramount production starring Steve Martin and the late John Candy.

The original follows the pair as they try to make it home to Chicago for Thanksgiving.  Martin and Candy muddle through a series of comedic travel mishaps while on their way. The 1987 Planes, Trains & Automobiles was written and directed by John Hughes.

This remake will be produced by Hart’s HartBeat Productions and Smith’s Westbrook Studios led by Jon Mone, Westbrook Studios co-president and head of motion pictures, as well as Bryan Smiley, HartBeat’s president of film and television.

Brooklyn 99 producer and writer, Aeysha Carr, has been chosen to write the screenplay for this starstudded remake. Smith and Hart’s characters will be forced to team up and tackle travel obstacles to get home to their families, Variety reports.

The storyline is similar to the 2010 film, Due Date, produced by Legendary Entertainment which stars Robert Downey Jr and Zach Galifianakis. It’s a funny portrayal of opposite personalities who are forced to work together for their shared objective.

Smith and Hart are both veteran actors with diverse portfolios who continue to make box office hits.  In the upcoming film King Richard from Overbrook Entertainment, Smith will star as the father of tennis stars Venus and Serena Williams
