Mosaic Theater Company is a resident partner at the Atlas Performing Arts Center on the historic H-Street corridor in Northeast DC. With a focus on creating theater to humanize our differences, inspire empathy and provoke thought, understanding and action around the pressing social issues of our time, Mosaic serves as an incubator for stories often unseen on US stages. The 2021/22 Season is Mosaic’s most culturally eclectic season
yet, showcasing six plays, comprised of three world premieres, three regional premieres, three plays by women and five plays by playwrights of color. These productions will explore themes of familial connection and lineage, faith and sexuality, cycles of behavior, and the boundaries of technology. Of particular note this season are, Dear Mapel, the autobiographical story of DC based playwright and performer, Psalmayene 24’s journey to
connect with his distant father through a series of letters both real and imagined.
Performances for Dear Mapel begin January 19, 2022. Pulitzer Prize-winner, Jackie Sibblies Drury’s play Marys Seacole explores the life and legacy of Mary Seacole, a Jamaican
woman whose extraordinary journey takes her from the frontlines of the Crimean War, to a modern-day nursing home, while exploring the dynamics of caregiving in the process.
Performances for Marys Seacole begin in May 4, 2022. In addition, Mosaic Theater
is pleased to announce The Till Trilogy, by Ifa Bayeza. This landmark undertaking and Edgar Award-winning, three-play saga brings to life the vividness of Emmett Till’s voice and spirit,
the richness of his world, the tragedy of his brutal death, the miscarriage of justice in the trial of his murderers, and the indelible impact of his legacy on those left behind. The Till Trilogy will begin in the Summer of 2022.
