Moblissa family recovering from COVID-19

The family that was diagnosed with the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) from Moblissa is currently recovering and are expected to be discharged later this week.

Coleen Williams, a resident of Moblissa who tested positive for COVID-19 almost two weeks ago yesterday told Stabroek News that she is expected to be discharged today while her family will be discharged later this week.

Williams’s mother, Estella, died last week Thursday less than a day after being told she was COVID-19 positive. Given Estella’s condition, Williams and the rest of her family had been very worried about their father, who like their mother had underlying health conditions, and had requested that he be hospitalized.

However, Williams told Stabroek News yesterday that her father is in a stable condition and will be continuing his isolation period at his home. She said they were given medication by health officials and that seemed to help him so now he is recovering.

“They were to bring him at the hospital here (Linden) but his symptoms ease up and we all thought it was better for him at home,” she said.

Williams said that her father is not experiencing any symptoms of the virus.

She said he is expected to be discharged from isolation early next week.

The Ministry of Health yesterday stated that they will be providing the family with a hamper so the family will be able to sustain themselves during the remainder of the isolation period.
