Passengers rob driver of car, valuables

A 42-year-old driver was on Tuesday night robbed of the car he was driving, his phone and cash by gunmen, two of whom hired him to drop them off at Plum Park, Sophia, where they ended up holding him up.

The victim was robbed of a dark green Toyota Belta, with licence plate PWW 6623, a $20,000 cellphone, US$200 in cash, $36,000 in cash, and documents.

According to police, around 10.20 pm on Tuesday, two identifiable suspects, posing as passengers, hired the driver at Stabroek Market to take them to Plum Park then further requested to be dropped off on the main road there.

About 10.30 pm, they arrived at their destination. While the passengers/suspects were making their exit, two other identifiable suspects, both wielding handguns, approached the driver. The suspects entered the car and instructed the driver to run. As the victim proceeded to run, one of the gunmen discharged two rounds in the air before making good their escape.

The suspects were still at large up to yesterday
