Trains at Cape Town station came to a grinding halt on Wednesday due to "panel equipment failure" at the transport hub.
Metrorail confirmed that trains at Cape Town station were suspended until further notice, due to equipment failure on Wednesday.
Metrorail spokesperson Zino Mihli said a shuttle had been provided for the route between Fish Hoek and Salt River while technicians worked on the problem.

Commuters were asked to make their own arrangements after the Salt River shuttle drop-off.
"We are experiencing panel equipment failure at Cape Town station affecting all trains. This necessitates the temporary suspension of trains in the region until further notice," said Mihli.
Cape Town's commuter rail network has been bedevilled by problems over the years, with arson and cable theft further crippling an already limping system.
