University of Technology, Jamaica (UTech) student 22-year-old Hudaine Mitchell, who is accused of credit card fraud, was granted $500,000 bail with surety when he appeared before the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court today.

Mitchell, who was represented by attorney-at-law Able-Don Foote, was ordered to report to the May Pen police station on Tuesdays and Fridays between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.

His co-accused Dane Bradshaw was remanded.

The case is set for mention on November 4.

It is being alleged that in July 2019 Mitchell used an American Express ‘black card’ to buy over $200,000 worth of alcohol from a liquor store on Constant Spring Road in St Andrew.

A ‘black card’ is a type of extremely exclusive credit card that is almost solely reserved for the ultra-wealthy.

It is further alleged that employees at the store discovered that the credit card, which had a limit of $50 million, was fraudulent.

They subsequently notified the police.

Days later, Mitchell returned to the store and allegedly attempted to make another purchase where he was nabbed.

Bradshaw was subsequently arrested and both were later charged.

They have been in custody since July 2019.
