Milwaukee has been rated the least ideal city to be a dog in the U.S. according to a study recently released by Honest Paws. The study ranked 50 cities to find the best and worst U.S. communities for your canine-pals. Milwaukee ranked low across the majority of the nine ranking factors, containing only three dog parks for its over 595,000 population size, according to the Trust for Public Land. Additionally, Wisconsin does not have a statewide ban on breed-specific legislation and Milwaukee restricts both Pitbulls and Rottweilers.
Other less-than-ideal U.S. cities to be a dog include Louisville, KY (#2), Columbus, OH (#3), and Memphis, TN (#4), where dog-friendly establishments like hotels, breweries, and restaurants are fewer and far between. New York City lands the number nine spot on our list of worst cities to be a dog, largely due to a small number of expansive outdoor spaces for dogs compared to the city’s overall size, based on our findings from the Trust for Public Land.
