Gase and Jets Going No Where Fast

How inept and putrid were the New York Jets in their 24-0 loss to the Miami Dolphins? Let’s begin with the fact that by the end of the game, they had run 47 plays from offense. It resulted in 12 punts by Braden Mann. No telling how long Mann had to sit in a tub of cold water to sooth his right hamstring. 12 times they had an opportunity to get a first down. 12 times they came away empty. In the first half, under veteran Joe Flacco, who was starting for the second straight week (Sam Darnold still nursing a right shoulder injury) could not move the team. 6 possessions in the first half resulted in 6 punts with 5 three and outs. Flacco threw for 186 yards, completing 21 of 44 passes and one interception. “I don’t feel good right now because we didn’t win the football game and we didn’t play well enough,” he said afterwards. In his second year as head coach, Adam Gase watched for the second time as his team was shutout. The last time, the debacle against New England ended in a 33-0 loss. Darnold famously saying, “I’m seeing ghosts.” Darnold was mic’d up by ESPN during the game for the entire for all of the audience to see.

The New York Jets now have the distinction of being the only team in the NFL without a win. It is there worse start since 1996 and there is a very good chance they go 0-16 putting them in the position to draft the number pick next year. Head coach Adam Gase and the organization released their best offensive player Le’Veon Bell and got nothing in return. They still have to pay $6 million of his 2020 salary.

Buffalo comes to MetLife Stadium (4-2) looking to get back on the winning track after losing their last two games. Darnold’ s status is still up in the air as well as the psyche of the entire team.
