Cops still to identify man who killed himself on Robb St

Police are still to identify a man who shot himself to death on Robb Street, in Georgetown, early on Sunday morning.

According to the Guyana Police Force, the man has so far only been identified as “Tricksy.”

A police report stated that ranks on a mobile patrol on Alexander Street were informed at about 3.30 am that the man had shot himself.

The ranks soon after made their way to the scene, where they saw the man lying motionless on his back in a pool of blood with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to his temple.

The report added that a 9mm Glock pistol was seen about 12 inches from his right shoulder along with a 9 mm round in the breach. A 9 mm spent shell was also discovered at the scene. 

The deceased was picked up and transported to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH), where he was pronounced dead by a doctor on duty.

CCTV footage seen by the police confirmed that the man shot himself.

Up to yesterday Commander of Region 4 (A), Assistant Commissioner Simon Mc Bean, when contacted, stated that the deceased was still to be further identified.
