Sporting Equals continues to ask the tricky questions

The organisation's key findings indicated that BAME individuals and communities faced and still face significant disparities whilst the country has been drastically affected by Covid-19

SPORTING EQUALS has submitted evidence to the Women and Equalities Committee, discussing the disproportionate impact BAME communities have faced during the Coronavirus crisis.

The organisation’s key findings indicated that BAME individuals and communities faced and still face significant disparities whilst the country has been drastically affected by Covid-19. They found that many from BAME communities were disproportionately impacted by the virus regarding the following factors:

  • Health inequalities
  • Deprivation
  • Housing
  • Occupation
  • Cultural barriers

Sporting Equals’ response also invited the Women and Equalities committee to engage further with those from the BAME community, through Sporting Equals facilitating conversation through our network.

Topics

Sporting Equals continues to engage with governmental departments across the UK on topics affecting the communities that they work with.

Sporting Equals is Britain’s leading charity in championing Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) diversity in the sport and physical activity sector.

Faith centres

They are a national partner of Sport England and have over 20 years of experience in promoting and celebrating ethnic diversity in sport across the UK. We have an extended network of over 5,000 BAME-led organisations including faith centres, community groups, ethnic media and sport clubs.

Over the years they have acquired extensive insight into local communities and “on the ground” knowledge garnered through delivering projects in cities throughout the country.
