The end of June spelt the end of the road for some PSL players at their clubs.

The league is set to resume in the coming weeks, and several players have been handed short-term contract extensions by their clubs.

However, some have been freed to search for new clubs before the start of the next campaign.

PSL free agents in July 2020

Kabelo Mahlasela (Kaizer Chiefs): The midfielder was shipped off to Polokwane City on loan earlier in the year, and won’t return to Kaizer Chiefs before the league restarts. This is after he was released along with two other players.

Joseph Molangoane (Kaizer Chiefs): The fullback has been under an injury cloud for the bulk of the past two seasons, and will have to look for another club after his contract at Naturena was not renewed.

Morgan Gould (Stellenbosch): Having been without a club before being picked up by the top-flight newcomers, it’s back to square one now for the former Bafana defender.

Siyanda Xulu (Maritzburg United): Maritzburg United are another club to have released one of their top players, in the form of Siyanda Xulu who is said to be in Orlando Pirates’ sights.

Thabo Mnyamane (Supersport United): Supersport United’s loss could prove to be a huge gain for some of their rivals, with the highly-rated midfielder previously linked to the likes of Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns.

Thabo Rakhale (Chippa United): The skilful winger’s tenure at the Port Elizabeth-based outfit came to an end after his contract was not renewed before 30 June. Rakhale has been linked with the likes of Kaizer Chiefs, who are said to be circling around for his services.

Players who have found new homes

Not all players released by their clubs on Tuesday will be experiencing a nervous wait for a new deal.

Several stars have already signed on the dotted line for new outfits, including former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder George Maluleka, who has been unveiled by Mamelodi Sundowns as a new signing.
