Black pub quiz creators PRTYHERE team up with YouTube Music

SANAE ELMED and Shay Loko, both 25, are breathing new life into the traditional British pastime with PRTYHERE, their black pub quiz.

The two friends, both 25, who met at university, were inspired to launch their own take on the traditional pub quiz after they attended a quiz and came away feeling they didn’t know any of the answers and couldn’t relate to the questions.

PRTYHERE was born as an antidote to lack of inclusive quiz nights in London, featuring questions on black history, pop culture and what the duo call “not-so-general knowledge”. The event started off as a small quiz in a Peckham pub and now the pair are teaming up with YouTube Music as part of this year’s Black History Month celebrations.

On Wednesday 21 October, PRTYHERE will partner with YouTube Music to bring their stereotype-smashing pub quiz to a virtual audience.

Loko said: “We’re really excited to be collaborating with YouTube Music for this Black History Month Celebration. In the quiz you can expect some of our favourite rounds ‘Not So General Knowledge’, ‘Are You Smarter Than a 10 Year Old?’ and ‘Music Potluck’ rounds all celebrating Black culture and influence as we always do. Creating quizzes that centre Black entertainment and culture is why we started but this quiz we’ve included a round on Black history and featured a lot of familiar names!”

We’ve partnered with YouTube on this because they continue to champion Black creatives. They have created an inclusive space which aligns with our core values.
