The Charlotte Amalie High School Gymnasium came alive on Friday afternoon, hosting two St. Thomas-St. John Interscholastic Athletic Association League volleyball games.
The opening game was the first match of the season for both teams. Calvary Christian Academy and Antilles School went back and forth as Antilles won the first set 25-15. The Crusaders of Calvary came storming back behind the serving of Alexes Richardson to claim the second set 25-20. In the third and final set, the lead changed hands a few times until the Antilles Hurricanes went on a mini-run late to secure an 18-16 win. The Hurricanes took the match 2 sets to 1.
In the second match of the day, the defending Junior Varsity Champions, Charlotte Amalie High School welcomed Antilles School into the Hawks’ nest. The Lady Hawks were nothing but gracious as they quieted the Hurricanes, winning the match in straight sets (25-17; 25-11). This was the Lady Hawks’ second game of the season. They presently sit on top of the JV girls division with a 2-0 lead. This was Antilles’ first match of the season, making them 0-1.
The action continues at the Ivanna Eudora Kean High School Gymnasium on Saturday with seven matches.
