The South African Weather Service has issued a yellow level 2 warning for severe thunderstorms over Gauteng, the south-eastern parts of the North West and north-eastern parts of the Free State with heavy downpours and strong winds.
This may lead to the localised flooding of susceptible formal/informal settlements or roads, low-lying areas and bridges.

Mpumalanga will experience cloudy and cool to warm conditions with isolated afternoon thundershowers, except in the extreme north-east.
Limpopo will be cloudy and cool to warm with isolated afternoon thundershowers in the south.
It will be partly cloudy in the east of the North West, otherwise fine and warm to hot, becoming partly cloudy with isolated showers and thundershowers, but scattered in the central and south-eastern parts.
Cloudy conditions can be expected in the east of Limpopo where it will be cool, otherwise fine and warm to hot, becoming partly cloudy with isolated showers and thundershowers over the central and eastern parts, but scattered in the north.
The Northern Cape will be fine and warm to hot, but very hot in the north. It will become partly cloudy in the north with isolated showers and thundershowers.
The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong southerly to south-easterly.
It will be partly cloudy in the Western Cape over the Central Karoo in the morning, otherwise fine and warm to hot but very hot over the northern parts of the west coast.
The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong easterly to south-easterly becoming southerly to south-westerly north of Cape Columbine by late morning.
The expected UVB sunburn index is extreme.
The western parts of the Eastern Cape will be partly cloudy with patches of mist in places in the north during the morning, otherwise fine and warm but cool along the coast and adjacent interior.
The wind along the coast will be light north-easterly, becoming moderate to fresh easterly.
It will be cloudy and cool with rain in places south of the eastern parts of the escarpment in the morning, becoming partly cloudy from the west from the early afternoon.
The wind along the coast will be light easterly, becoming moderate to fresh north-easterly in the afternoon.
In KwaZulu-Natal, it will be partly cloudy with morning rain except in the north-east and morning fog over the interior, otherwise cold to cool but warm in the north-east.
Isolated afternoon showers and thundershowers are expected in the north-west.
The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh southerly to south-easterly becoming moderate easterly to north-easterly from the south by the afternoon
