Clerk granted $1 500 bail

A 30-year-old general warehouse clerk appeared before the court today in connection with three criminal offences.

Akanni David Akil Brathwaite, of Union Park, St Philip is accused of assaulting former Member of Parliament and diplomat Henrietta “Liz” Thompson, on January 28.

He is also charged with assaulting police officer Kemar White on the same day causing him harm and resisting him while he executed his duties.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges before Magistrate Manila Renee in the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court.

Brathwaite, who is represented by attorneys-at-law Michael Lashley Q.C., Sade Harris and Kimberley Gollop, has been ordered to reappear in court on February 15.

In the meantime he is on $1 500 bail which he secured with one surety.
