Early voting began in many states including Georgia which had a record breaking turnout on its first day Oct. 12. Voters of all races reported standing in line for up to five hours to cast their ballots in one of the most important elections in our nation’s history. Although the long lines could have been a result of the limited number of locations open due to Indigenous Peoples’ Day, formerly known as Columbus Day, voters were not deterred from exercising their patience and their right to vote.
